FUNDAMAR launches, with the support of the Xunta de Galicia, the first “Comprehensive study with a gender approach, in the prevention of occupational hazards and preventive needs in fishing vessels”, taking into account the analysis of all risks, both ergonomic, such as psychosocial, physical and hygienic, which helps to incorporate the gender perspective in prevention management on board. During 2020, occupational hazards in fishing vessels, as well as preventive needs, have been identified, analyzed and detected, taking into account the effects on the safety and health of women, resulting in the first study to detect preventive needs with gender approach in fishing vessels.

After this first analysis, and in a second phase, based on the needs detected, a series of preventive measures and recommendations that are effective in the work environment will be determined, in order to eliminate inequality factors that make the female group more vulnerable and that allow progress towards risk assessments that are increasingly individualized and adapted to the job position and the person who performs it.
